Rotational Atherectomy or Rotablation (RA) is the highly sophisticated technique to remove calcium deposition from coronary vessels. It consist of a Diamond Burr rotating at very high speeds of 160-180,000 RPM inside coronaries and making way for balloons and stents. This is a very important equipment in cath lab to be able to perform complex angioplasties.
Intravascular Lithotripsy or IVL is the most advance solution to deal with calcium inside coronaries and was launched in 2020 in India. This machine gives electrical shocks inside coronaries via wires mounted on balloon catheter to break calcium.
Both RA & IVL are routinely being performed in Jeevan Rekha Cath Lab.
