2D & 4D ECHO



An echocardiogram (echo) is a test used to assess the heart's function and structures. An echo uses sound waves to create pictures of your heart’s chambers, valves, walls and the blood vessels (aorta, arteries, veins) attached to your heart.

The test helps to find out:
  • The size and shape of your heart, and the size, thickness and movement of your heart’s walls.
  • How your heart moves.
  • The heart’s pumping strength.
  • If the heart valves are working correctly.
  • If blood is leaking backwards through your heart valves (regurgitation).
  • If the heart valves are too narrow (stenosis).
  • If there is a tumor or infectious growth around your heart valves.
The test also will help your doctor find out if there are:
  • Problems with the outer lining of your heart (the pericardium).
  • Problems with the large blood vessels that enter and leave the heart.
  • Blood clots in the chambers of your heart.
  • Abnormal holes between the chambers of the heart.

2D Echocardiography or 2D Echo:

It is a non-invasive heart investigation that creates images of the sections of the heart using sound vibrations. It presents the various parts of the heart as in pictures so that it becomes easy to check if there is any damage or blockages, and blood flow rate.

How is the 2D Echo test done?

  • Person needs to uncover the chest and lay on the examination table
  • A colourless gel is applied to the chest area to analyse the sound vibrations
  • The technician moves the transducer across the various parts of the chest. The gel helps the transducer get views of the heart
  • Technician can ask to change the laying position to get better assessment
  • The gel is removed after the test
  • The images can be viewed on a computer monitor and printed on paper, or recorded in DVD, and given to the patient after interpretation of results

4D Echo

We are proud to introduce the latest 4D ECHO & Stress Echo machine. This is a dedicated Cardiac ultrasound machine which can scan the entire heart which implies comprehensive diagnostic information. This machine gives the ability to deliver increased volume size, resolution and volume rate. With the 4D Stress applications physicians can view the entire ventricle under stress, not possible with conventional machines. Such high quality images enable us to use this machine for screening as well as diagnostic purposes to detect / rule out heart disease.
